Groundwork Elizabeth has been working with the City of Elizabeth on a neighborhood Planter Program, which not only beautifies some of the Urban Enterprise Zone locations within the City, but also serves to build the self esteem of the community as well. Groundwork has elicited support from some of the City’s public High Schools, the Boy’s and Girls Club, and other non-profits and interested volunteers. We are working on more than 50 planters. Gateway sections of the City have been featured, such as the entrance to the 2nd Ward on Bayway Avenue, the North Avenue Corridor in the 5th Ward, the Elizabethport section of the City in the 1st Ward, the Elmora Avenue shopping district in the 3rd Ward. The Groundwork Elizabeth Planter program also complements other beautification projects in the 6th and 4th Wards
