Groundwork Elizabeth was recently chosen by Councilman Manny Grova and the 1 st Ward Beautification Program to plan and implement a beautification project in the 1 st Ward, the Elizabethport section of the City.

 

Using a team composed of Ameri-Corps volunteers, and a pilot program of Green Team members in cooperation with Brand New Day, 73 flower planters were installed on 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd Streets. This program supplements the “ Greening Union County” tree planting program, in which approximately 40 large trees were introduced to Urban Enterprise Zone areas within the 1 st Ward. The team will continue to maintain the planters throughout the 2006 growing season.
