250 vital urban trees were recently planted along Urban Enterprise Zone corridors on Elizabeth Avenue and the Elizabethport section of Elizabeth. The program under which these trees were planted is called the “ Greening Union County” program, initiated by Angel Estrada, former Chairman of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Other participants in the program were the City of Elizabeth, the Urban Enterprise Zone Program, and Groundwork Elizabeth. This planting is part of a larger picture envisioned to introduce a canopy of trees to cool, clean, and beautify the County of Union and the City of Elizabeth.
